How to Read the Stories
Three labels. No guessing.
Every story in this book carries one of three labels, so you always know what you are reading.
Observed. We saw it. Something our team saw during a NetOps IQ assessment, pilot or controlled demonstration. We don't publish customer names, device identifiers or dates.
Sourced. Someone else reported it. Public reporting or research from a named outside source. The links are in the notes at the back.
Illustrative. We built it to explain. A realistic scenario that shows how the problem works. It's not a real incident, and we never pretend it is.
One more rule. When we describe a real attack or a real finding, we tell you what we saw and what we didn't. We'd rather undersell than oversell.
